The Institutional Ethical Committee (IEC) meeting was successfully conducted on 05th August 2024 at the Conference Room, Shivalik Institute of Ayurved & Research, Dehradun. The meeting aimed to review and discuss various ethical aspects of ongoing and proposed research projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of integrity and compliance with regulatory guidelines. Additionally, faculty from 10 different departments presented their research papers, showcasing a diverse range of studies and innovative findings that contribute to the advancement of Ayurvedic knowledge. Faculty members who were unable to attend in person joined the meeting virtually via Zoom, ensuring broad participation and inclusion in the discussions.

- Discussion on Pharmaceuticals, Nutraceuticals, and Herbs.
- Clearance on Research from Different Departments of Ayurveda.
Participants and Contributions:
- Prof. (Dr.) Vikash Jakhmola, Dean, Dept. of Pharmacy, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, served as the chairperson. He emphasized the importance of rigorous research methodologies and provided strategic suggestions for the enhancement of research quality and the successful publication of research findings in reputed journals.
- Prof. (Dr.) Simran, Member Secretary and Principal, Shivalik Institute of Ayurved & Research, Dehradun, inaugurated the meeting with a welcome speech. She highlighted the pivotal role of ethical oversight in advancing Ayurvedic research and ensuring patient safety.
- Dr. Satendra Kumar, HOD, Dept. of Rasashastra & Bhaisajya Kalpana, Shivalik Institute of Ayurved & Research, Dehradun, shared his extensive knowledge in pharmaceutical research. He underscored the need for innovative approaches in the formulation and testing of Ayurvedic medicines.
- Prof. (Dr.) Sanandan Thapliyal, Member Secretary and HOD, Dept. of Kayachikitsa, Shivalik Institute of Ayurved & Research, Dehradun, provided valuable insights into clinical research. He stressed the importance of adhering to ethical guidelines to maintain the credibility and reliability of clinical trials.
- Mr. Ankit Kumar, Basic Medical Scientist and Assistant Professor, Dept. of Pharmacognosy, Shivalik Campus, Dehradun, presented his perspectives on research methodologies and the importance of publishing high-quality research papers. He discussed potential areas of collaboration to further enhance research outcomes.
- Dr. Siddharth Thapliyal, Lay Person and Assistant Professor, Dept. of Legal Studies, Himgiri Zee University, Dehradun, contributed his expertise on the legal aspects of research. He advised on compliance with legal standards and the ethical implications of research activities.
- Dr. Rajeev Sharma, Director of Education, concluded the meeting with a vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions and reinforced the institution’s commitment to ethical research practices.
